Hyderabad, Sept.28 (Hydnow): Both political and film personalities are continuing to seeking Bharat Rathna to noted singer and musician late S P Balaubrah manyam (SPB). Afresh Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has urged the centre to confer the highest civilian award on SPB posthumously.
Jagan Reddy appealed to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in a letter to confer the award on the noted singer who died a couple of days ago. SPB has carved a niche for himself by singing a staggering 40000 songs in almost 16 Indian languages for long time Jagan Mohan Reddy said.
During his five and half decades of stint SPB has enthralled audiences with his melodies and prepared several singers for the film field. The Centre has already offered such award to welcome known singers, musicians and artistes like Latha Mangeshkar, Bhupen Hazarika, MS Subba Lakshmi and Bhimsen Joshi and others he said. The Chief minister said SPB has already won awards, like Padnasree, and, Padmabhushan for his great services in the field.
He felt that SPB deserves Bharat Rathna posthumously as he won filmfare, best playback singer and other awards. It is honour to give such a great award to the singer he added. Earlier Tamil and Telugu hero Arjun has urged the centre for same. (Hydnow)
