Hyderabad, Aug.5 (Hydnow): Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday decided to support the combined Opposition candidate, former Union Minister Margaret Alva in the Vice-President election to be held on Saturday.
Announcing the party’s chief decision to extend the support to the Opposition candidate in the Vice president election, TRS Parliamentary Party leader Dr. K Keshava Rao advised the party MPs numbering 16 to vote accordingly.
The BJP-led NDA government already announced former West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar as its candidate in the Vice-president election.
The vice president of India, which is the second-highest constitutional post in the country, is elected through an electoral college consisting of members of the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha. The term of incumbent M Venkaiah Naidu ends on August 10. (Hydnow)
