The first case of the highly contagious novel strain of coronavirus SARS-CoV2 in India was reported in Kerala towards January-end while in Telangana, the first positive case was reported on March 2. After over two months of non-stop fight against Covid-19, one common factor that almost all the States are grappling with is the fact that the urban centres have become ideal breeding grounds for the contagious virus.
Almost all the metros, which are also major economic hubs with a large migrant workforce both in organised and unorganised sectors, are in the grip of the SARS-CoV2. While the first case was reported in the end of January, it took a while for the virus to get a foothold in the local population. However, by April, the coronavirus firmly entrenched itself in all major Indian cities.
