Bihar: In a devastating incident last evening, a cable bridge connecting Sultanganj and Khagaria districts in Bihar came crashing down for the second time in less than a year.
The bridge, inaugurated in 2014 by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, collapsed like a house of cards, raising serious concerns about the safety measures implemented during its construction.
Fortunately, no loss of life has been reported thus far, providing some relief amidst the wreckage. However, the incident has sparked outrage and demands for accountability from the public and political leaders alike.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar wasted no time and immediately ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the bridge collapse. He emphasized that strict action must be taken against those responsible for this grave lapse in infrastructure.
According to Bhagalpur District Magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen, “4-5 pillars of the Aguwani-Sultanganj under-construction bridge collapsed. The administration is in close contact with officials from the relevant department to assess the extent of the damage and investigate the underlying causes,” reports said.
