Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug 7 (Hydnow): BRS MLA Vanama Venkateswara Rao got relief in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has stayed the Telangana High Court ruling that Vanama’s election as MLA was invalid. It issued notices to the respondents to report within two weeks. Adjourned further hearing for four weeks.
It is known that the High Court has ruled that the election of Kothagudem MLA Vanama Venkateshwar Rao is invalid. In this affidavit during the 2018 elections, he did not include the factual information in form-26. In addition to this, a case was registered in the High Court on charges of not paying the dues to the government. A four-year investigation was conducted on these.
Vanama Venkateswara Rao, who contested and won from the Kothagudem constituency on behalf of Congress, later joined the ruling BRS. Jalagam Venkat Rao approached the High Court and filed a petition seeking annulment of that election. the High Court, agreeing with the arguments of Jalagam’s counsel that Vanama Venkateswara Rao deliberately did not mention the details of the case filed against Vanama at Kothagudem Police Station in his election affidavit, declared the petitioner Jalagam Venkat Rao as the winner in place of Vanama Venkateswara Rao.
