Hyderabad, July 1 (Hydnow): Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized a virtual conference “School Excellence Conclave”- Redefining Education for the Emerging World: Adopting to A New Normal.
Speaking at Inaugural Session, Dr BVR Mohan Reddy, Chairman, CII Education Committee, & Chairman, Cyient Ltd said that The Covid-19 pandemic has unleashed the biggest calamity that humanity has faced so far. It has brought unprecedented educational disruption with 1.2 billion students and youth across the planet affected by school closures.
The main challenge for the nation, at this time will be to envision and implement effective policies which will work to the advantage of the demographic dividend, hence spurring the nation’s economic growth. Investments education will need a 10 years vision by the Government and we need to make plans keeping blended Education vision in mind.

‘Empowering Tomorrow Together’- a e-booklet on transformational initiatives focusing on Community Empowerment of CYIENT Foundation was released at the School Excellence Conclave.
Vagish Dixit, Convenor, Education &Skills Panel, CII Telangana & Managing Director, ALPLA Ltd. said that Governments around the world will need to reassess learning systems to meet these challenges. Majority of private schools and other educational institutions have initiated mandatory virtual classes on a daily basis however, in the absence of physical classrooms and proper digital infrastructure, both teachers and students are facing unprecedented challenges.
Prof. V Venkata Ramana, Vice Chairman, Telangana State Higher Education Council, said that the State Government through T-SAT and SCERT making many efforts to ensure last mile connectivity.

Dr RS Praveen Kumar, Secretary, Telangana social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) said that Parents should take the responsibility as teachers and community should take the responsibility in Child’s learning. A Child should become capable of teaching other children. Education should happen at all community spaces. Community service should be made mandatory in the curriculum.
Swathi, Chairwoman, CII Telangana & Managing Trustee- NATCO Trust said that the sudden shift to online learning without any planning — especially in countries like India where the backbone for online learning was not ready and the curriculum was not designed for such a format — has created the risk of most of our students becoming passive learners and they seem to be losing interest due to low levels of attention span.
Dr Balaji Sampath, CEO, Aha Guru, said that we should develop natural inclination among the children for learning. Atleast 80% of learning, a Child should learn by themselves and derive fun and enjoy the learning process. Teachers’ role should be as a facilitator. The focus should be on skills the child possesses and how they are applying those skills.

Dr Shailesh Reddy, CEO, T-SAT, briefed about Government of Telangana’s efforts on providing digital platform in education through Mana TV. Biggest challenge is to reach out to the children in remote areas
Puneet Kothapa, Executive Director, Narayana Group of Institutions said that children engagement in the online classes in very important. He said that teachers engagement with primary children and for high school classes is completely different. 80% of the children are joining from Mobile so while designing programs accessibility and adaptability need to be taken into consideration.
