Hyderabad, sept.29 (Hydnow): Industries Minister KT Rama Rao today announced that Bathukamma Sarees to be distributed on October 9. It is the commitment of Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao to gift Bathukamma Sarees to poor women in the state. It will provide all help to weavers community to get complete work of weaving the saries he said. Along with women ministers Sabitha Indra Reddy, Sathtavsthi Rathod, KTR has visited an exhibition of Bathukamma Sarees.
He launched Saries on the occasion and vowed to offer livelihood to weaver community. KTR said that as many as 217 designs of Saries prepared with Golden and silver borders for Bathukamma festival to commence from October 17.
The government spent about Rs 1033 cr on Bathukamma Saries in Telangana, he claimed. Women groups will distribute the Saries to women at their homes due to Corona effect. The government has taken a decision to gift Bathukamma Saries to sisters in Telangana state. Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao has taken a decision to help the weavers get handful of works. This step will avoid suicides and offer the weavers community employment opportunities.
He informed about the Bathukamma Saries distribution to women fir the past few years.
The government spent Rs 220 cr in 2017, Rs 280 cr, in 2018, Rs 313 cr in 2019 and Rs 317.81 cr in 2020 respectively fir the purpose.
The government offers work to about 26000 power looms in the state the minister said. We also provide school uniforms, Anganwadi and ICDS clothes through these power looms he maintained.
The government allotted Rs 1200 cr for the handlooms, and weavers welfare.
