Hyderabad, Oct 31 (Hydnow): AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, along with other prominent opposition leaders, have raised concerns about potential hacking attempts on their smartphones. They shared screenshots of threat notifications received from Apple, indicating that their devices might be targeted.
Owaisi, sharing a screenshot of the warning he received, expressed his apprehension, stating, “Last night, I received an Apple Threat Notification alerting me to possible attackers targeting my phone. He commented in poet language as “ḳhuub parda hai ki chilman se lage baithe haiñ saaf chhupte bhī nahīñ sāmne aate bhī nahīñ.”
Several leaders from opposition parties, including Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, and Raghav Chadha, a Member of Parliament from the Aam Aadmi Party, have reported receiving these threat notifications on their iPhones. They have raised suspicions that the ruling BJP may be involved in a state-sponsored attempt to spy on their mobile devices.
Apple’s threat notifications are designed to alert users if they are being targeted by state-sponsored attackers. These notifications are typically sent to users who have been identified as potential targets of hacking or surveillance attempts.
Opposition leaders who have received these notifications have expressed concern that the ruling BJP may be involved in a state-sponsored attempt to spy on them. They have also raised concerns about the potential for their sensitive data to be compromised if their devices are hacked.
Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP IT cell, has denied the party’s involvement in the alleged ‘spy attack.’ He has stated that the opposition leaders’ claims are unsubstantiated and that there is no evidence to support them.
Apple has not yet commented on the matter. (Hydnow)
