·TPCC to organise condolence meeting on August 17th

Hyderabad, August 10 (Hydnow): Senior leaders of Congress party on Monday paid rich tributes to former MP Nandi Yellaiah who passed away on August 8 due to Covid-19.

Participating in the virtual condolence meeting organised through Zoom App, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & MP Capt. N. Uttam Kumar recalled the services of Nandi Yellaiah for the nation and the Congress party. He said Nandi Yellaiah began his political career as a Corporator and rose to a level that he got elected to the Lok Sabha six times and to the Rajya Sabha twice besides serving as a Member of Legislative Council.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said he knew Nandi Yellaiah from the time he was working in Rashtrapati Bhavan. “Nandi Yellaiah Ji was too polite, humble and quite affectionate towards me,” he recalled.

He described Nandi Yellaiah’s death due to Covid-19 as a huge loss for the party and said that the vacuum created due to his demise could never be filled. He said Nandi Yellaiah’s life was highly inspirational and every Congress worker needs to learn and follow his ideals and principles. He said Nandi Yellaiah was one of the greatest leaders in the country and his services to the people would be remembered forever.

Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that the party would organise a condolence meeting on August 17 at Indira Bhavan to pay tributes to the departed leader.

AICC Incharge R.C. Khuntia, CLP leader Bhatti Vikarmarka, Working President & MP Revanth Reddy, MLA D. Sridhar Babu, Working Presidents Ponnam and Kusum Kumar, AICC Secretaries Bose Raju, Sampath Kumar, Vamshichand Reddy, Srinivasan Krishnana, Dr. J. Geetha Reddy, Marri Shashidhar Reddy, DCC Presidents and other senior leaders participated in the condolence meeting.

They described the death of Nandi Yellaiah as a huge loss for the party. They said Nandi Yellaiah was a great Dalit leader who would be remembered forever for his simplicity and loyalty to the Congress party. Nandi Yellaiah was a staunch loyalist throughout his five-decade long political career. He always respected the decisions of Congress High Command irrespective of whether or not he was given opportunity for Lok Sabha, Rajya Sahba, MLC or any other post.

R.C. Khuntia said he had lost a brother, friend and a colleague and his death has caused irreparable damage to the party. Bhatti Vikramarka said that despite scaling great heights in politics, Nandi Yellaiah never had any controversy. He said Nandi Yellaiah succumbed due to Covid-19. He said he might have survived if the TRS Government would’ve taken measures to stop the spread of Coronavirus in the State.
