Hyderabad, Aug.6 (Hydnow): Assembly Estimates Committee Chairman Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy died last night of cardiac arrest at a private hospital here today.
He was 57 and leaves behind wife, a son and a daughter. After surgery to his leg Ramalinga Reddy was shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad where he breathed his last.
He joined the TRS in 2001. A journalist before joining the active politics, Ramalinga Reddy has been a close leader to Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao, ministers T Harish Rao and K T Rama Rao.
He is noted as a good person who tried his best to develop his Dubbaka segment.
Ramalinga Reddy was four time MLA as he was elected twice on TRS ticket from Dommata segment in combined Andhra Pradesh in 2004 and 2008 respectively.
After Telangana formation, Ramalinga Reddy shifted base to Dubbaka and elected twice in 2014 and 2018 respectively.
He hails from Chittur in Dubbaka and played key role in statehood movement of Telangana. Final rites performed at his native village and were attended by TRS leaders.
KCR, TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu and other tip leaders have condoled death of Reddy.
TRS Working president and IT Minister K T Rama Rao condoling Ramalinga Reddy’s death said that he was deeply disturbed by his death and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family members.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao said Ramalinga Reddy was a people’s man, who played a key role in the Statehood movement as a journalist and then as a leader.
Ministers E Rajender , E Dayakar Rao, Singireddy Niranjan Reddy , A Indrakaran Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod, T Srinivas Yadav ,Sabitha Indira Reddy, Koppula Eswar, V Srinivas Goud , State Planning Board Vice Chairman B Vinod Kumar, MP J Santosh Kumar and several others expressed condolences on the death of Ramalinga Reddy. They said that Ramalinga Reddy’s death was a big loss to TRS and people of Dubbaka. (Hydnow)
