The State Formation Day was celebrated by people across city by hoisting national flag and distributing sweets and fruits. Government offices, institutions and other establishments were decked up with flowers and attractive lighting.
In view of the covid-19 pandemic, Telangana Government had instructed that the celebrations will be a low key affair.
Mayor Bonthu Rammohan hoisted tricolour at GHMC head office along with Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar and Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin.
HMDA Commissioner and MAUD Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar unfurled national flag at HMDA head office in Tarnaka and distributed notebooks and stationery to children as part of celebrations.
CID Additional Director-General of Police Govind Singh hoisted tricolor at police headquarters at Lakdikapul here. Senior police officials were present on occasion. Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited NVS Reddy participated in the celebrations at Metro Rail Bhavan.
High demand for Sircilla ‘sellas’
Meanwhile, demand for Sircilla ‘sellas’ has been increasing in city with many youngsters, TRS party activists and others sporting them. Koti, a weaver from Sircilla set up a makeshift stall in a van at Liberty circle and said response was good from customers.
Most of the ‘sellas’ were sold, he said adding that people from Suryapet, Mahabubnagar and other places have placed bulk orders for the sellas.
