As feared by many, native migrants continue to pose threat to district. Six more native migrants belonging to Jannaram mandal tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday. With this, the total number of patients reached 37.
District Surveillance Officer Dr Balaji said that four migrants of Thapalapur village and one each from Rotiguda and Chintapalli villages of remote Jannaram were diagnosed with the acute respiratory disease. The six were immediately shifted to Gandhi Hospital. They were kept in an isolation centre in Bellampalli after returning from Mumbai a few days back.
It maybe recalled that the district recorded barely a single positive case till April. However, the cases have gone up ever since the migrants started returning to the district from the second week of May. Authorities of medical and health department began a rapid health survey to identify patients of the disease.
