The slowdown in the automobile industry, which has become all the more worse with the Coronavirus pandemic, has hit one of Telangana’s major revenue generating departments hard. The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has recorded its highest deficit of nearly Rs 800 crore during the financial year 2019-20.
The RTA generated Rs 3,515 crore during 2019-20, which though a growth of Rs 11 crore from the previous fiscal’s earnings of Rs 3,504 crore, was still Rs 785 crore short of the department’s target of Rs 4,300 crore.
