Coronavirus infections reported at a shore-based Indian Navy establishment, Mumbai’s INS Angre, won’t impact operations, the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff said on Saturday.
The Navy’s warships, submarines and aircraft continue to be deployed in operations, Vice-Admiral MS Pawar said.
No coronavirus cases have been reported on warships, he said.
The Navy is ready to help India’s neighbours if needed, Vice-Admiral Pawar said.
As many as 21 serving Navy personnel have tested positive for the virus, with more results awaited.
All the personnel who tested positive live in the same accommodation block. Their primary contacts have been tested.
INS Angre is the shore-based logistics and administrative support establishment of the Western Naval Command.
