Chennai/Hyderabad, Aug 12 (Hydnow): The DMK has objected to giving Hindi names to some of the bills presented by the Central government in Parliament.  Union Home Minister amit shah introduced these bills in the Lok Sabha with Indian names to reform three British-era laws. The Indian Penal Code (IPC) 1860 was replaced by the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita . the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) 1898 was amended by the Bharatiya Nagrikta Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS)  and the Indian Evidence Act – 1872 was replaced by the Bharatiya Sakshiya Vidhayak (BSV)

In this context, DMK MP Wilson told the media that the Central government is imposing Hindi on the entire country.  They demanded that the names of these three bills be changed to English.  Hindi should not be made compulsory.  He said that doing this is forcing Hindi on them.  It was alleged to be unconstitutional.

It is said that there are many languages in India and English is the common language.  These three bills are in Hindi.  People do not understand what a bill is.  It is very difficult to say those names.   He said that this would force the imposition of Hindi on the entire country.
