Hyderabad, July 14 (Hydnow): Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar has informed that the State government is taking all precautions to prevent the loss of lives and minimize the damages due to heavy rains in the State.

He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is continuously monitoring the situation and officers are working at the field level across the State.

The Chief Secretary held a meeting and took stock of the situation arising out of the incessant rains over the last few days and water levels in the river Godavari and its impact at BRKR Bhavan on Thursday.

The special focus is now on Mulugu, Bhupalpally, and Bhadrachalam districts due to heavy discharge. The low-lying areas have been identified and the situation is being continuously monitored on an hourly basis,” Somesh Kumar said.

During the meeting, officials said the IMD has predicted light rainfall in 9 districts, and very light rains in another 10 districts while the remaining districts will receive no rainfall. The situation in most of the districts is normal and no major incidents have been reported in any district.

He said seven NDRF teams have been deployed of which three are in Bhadrachalam, while two each are in Mulugu and Bhupalpally.

Stating that officials are monitoring the water overflows and inundation, the Chief Secretary said around 19,071 people have been shifted to 223 special camps in the state. 6318 persons have been shifted to 43 camps in Bhadrachalam, 4049 persons in 33 camps in Mulugu and 1226 people have been placed in 20 camps in Bhupalpally. 16 persons have been rescued by NDRF while another two persons were airlifted by the Indian Air Force so far, he added.
