Hyderabad, Sept.7 (Hydnow): Municipal Minister KT Rama Rao said that State Government today released Rs 73.50 crore towards weavers and handloom workers under various schemes.

He said that the government is committed for welfare of the handloom workers and weavers. Several programs are being implemented for the welfare of the handloom workers and weavers, he said.

The Minister discussed subsidies, yarn, colours, materials and marketing support being offered to the weavers. The government aims to ensure that weavers produce more products and get benefits through timely marketing. The funds released include Rs 34 crore benefiting 50000 weavers under Chenetha Cheyutha, Rs 14.49 cr to 20000 weavers under Chenetha Mitra, Rs 14 crore to 74 societies, Rs 10 cr for marketing and subsidies for societies.

The Minister said that weavers’ cooperative societies should prosper and produce more products. The government will continue to extend all support for weavers, he added. (Hydnow)
