Gandhi Hospital All Set To Meet Omicron WaveGandhi Hospital All Set To Meet Omicron Wave

Hyderabad: The State-run Gandhi Hospital is all set to launch its non-Covid services including outpatient, inpatient and emergency healthcare services from Tuesday, after a gap of over four months.

After the surge of Covid infections during the second wave, the State government had converted Gandhi Hospital into a Covid-only facility in April. As a result, services for all non-Covid general patients had to be stopped at the hospital.

With Covid patients still admitted at the Gandhi hospital, authorities have decided to utilise the Orthopaedic ICU on the second and third floors for treating Covid cases and the fourth floor for treating Mucormycosis cases. The rest of the hospital areas and wards will be utilised for general non-Covid services, hospital superintendent Dr M Raja Rao said.

To ensure there is no cross-infection between Covid positive and non-Covid patients, authorities have made wearing masks within the hospital premises mandatory. There will be no visiting hours and one patient will be allowed to have only one attendant.

After the first Covid wave, the authorities have already established separate exit and entry points for Covid and non-Covid patients in the hospital. Special signboards have been put up to guide non-Covid patients so that they won’t come in the vicinity of the Covid positive patients.
